Magazine contents/ interview page draft

The contents page shows you some idea of how i would like my magazine to appear, the interview page needs more creativity. The 'Ice-cold' headline may change to something else as i don't think it can be associated with an interview.

Magazine drafting review

My magazine drafts give a rough idea of how i want my magazine layed out. The contents page is street themed on both drafts, the only thing that'll need changing is the colour and headings combination. For example if i named the heading kingpin then the contents page will be more glamourous, compared to being ice-cold; where it'll have dull tone.  The interview layout is of my artist and his name spray-painted on the wall followed by his interview below, not interfering with the wall and graffiti. These street themes are perfect hip-hop comventions and  therefore go well with my magazine

Nasiera Interview page(drafting and planning)

Cover page draft( drafting and planning)

The magazine cover-artist is wearing a crown, matching the magazines main-headline "Kingpin" which is an album due to release by main artist nasiera, who is the cover-artist

Contents page draft ice-cold (Drafting and Planning)

The contents page draft lacks colour and artwork used in its front cover in the previous post; the colour would be near enough the same as the cover page. This contents page theme is definitely near enough to how i want it; However the contents colour and editing will change depending on main headline

Senemto Photo-shoot (Organisation)

Senemto have taken their photo-shoot in the drama studio, all 3 models have turned up.

The photos were all taken by me, in cases using low-angles to illustrate their importance/authority as a band but mostly mid-shots to show the important details of the artists. Senemto will be supporting artists for my magazine.

Having items in the background was a slight downfall, they could be cropped out however.I believe the photoshOot went well overall These pictures were taken in the drama studio.

Influential Music Artists (Research)

Kanye West an versatile music artist with music from several genres containing soul, RnB aswell as my chosen genre; Hip-Hop . Kanye West is one of the best selling music artists to date with only 21 Grammy Awards. West dropped out of school to focus on a music career, however executives at Roc'A'Fella records viewed as an producer but he eventually debuted his first album College Dropout in 2004.
An outspoken and controversial celebrity, West has often been the source of incidents at award shows one contains Taylor Swift collecting her award for Best Female Video for "You Belong with Me", West went on stage and grabbed the microphone to proclaim that Beyoncé's video for "Single Ladie", nominated for the same award, was "one of the best videos of all time". He was subsequently removed from the remainder of the show for his actions. ,  his dapper and flamboyant fashion sense has also attracted media attention and set West apart from other rappers. West runs his own record label, GOOD Music, has directed several short films, and is also a fashion designer. Kanye says what he really feels in public, while other artists like to hide their feelings . I respect that.

Lil Wayne (Dwayne Carter) is another one of the best selling music artists , when you mention music artists of any genre Lil Wayne is guarenteed to be mentioned . He is in the elite group of hip-hop artists alongside Kanye West.

Lil Wayne signed his first record deal as an 8 year old with cash money records, the co-founder of cash money records his father figure 'Birdman' , Lil Wayne didn't know his biological father that he was named after therefore i likes drop the D in his name and be called Wayne.

Although he is known as an Hip-Hop artist , Rock artists were hugely influential to him as an youngster ; especially Nirvana. He as even successfully gone to make a Rock categorised album called Rebirth, however his album ' Tha Carter III ' is one of my favourite albums. Lil Wayne reads the bible on a regular basis and is therefore religious. Love him or hate him you can't get away from Tunechi ( one of his nicknames)

Squeeks,Fekky and Meek Mill are more influential artists that i may bring up in later posts.

Contents Page (Drafting and Planning)

This is one of my contents page drafts for my magazine. Since the magazine is called rap city i've decided to add a city theme to the whole page, with sky scrapers in the background and direction lamposts and also a cab; typically city for you.                                                                    The cab being by the lampost persuades you to get a lift instead of directing yourself ; but in reality you have to direct your yourself to the next page.

Magazine Conventions (Drafting & Planning)

Cover-page
Cover-page includes the following

Masthead - No matter what category you are in , in the magazine industry; you always have your own unique magazine masthead which is predominantly on the top left corner of the magazine.

Headline - Main statement, usually the widest or if not the boldest writing on the cover page. The headlines main priority is to catch a viewers eye; it needs a teasing sentence that'll make the viewer want to read more. Sometimes metaphors, alliteration and more are included to the main headline or any headings in fact.

Cover-lines - A group of less mainstream statements, smaller and not as bold as the main headline.

Sub-heading - Secondary Headline, normally linked to Main heading

Barcode - Used in identifying the magazine for purchasing reasons, it is predominantly on the cover-page of the magazine. Needs to be ignored as its not part of inside features; therefore it is commonly pushed to the very bottom of the cover page.

Pugs - Used to catch users eyes, usually anywhere on the top of the cover-page featuring magazine price or exclusive features/offers

Exclusives - Exclusive means that the magazine have offers or information that no other source can give you   (Exclusive Nasiera interview).

Quotes - Gives you a preview of maybe a interview, quoting something that was a highlight of the interview.

Main- Image - The photo dominating the cover-page, the image is normally of something popular, trending or the magazines main feature inside. The Main-Cover overlaps part of the masthead, this shows that the magazine is giving the image authority over itself and is visually saying "we are not important, this is".

Others

Contents - A page that shows you what is on published on each page and what to expect on this weeks/months issue.

Interview- There is highly likely to be a featured interview within the magazine. Music magazines will have artists and sports magazines will have athletes for example.

Back-cover commercial - Magazine advertises a sponsored partner.

Why is Rap City Blue? (Drafting and Planning)

Official Main Artist Interview (Organisation)

Interviewer: What’s up Nasiera; thanks for taking time to come and join us, how are you today?  I’m good, I’m good; just been adding the finishing touches to my debut album Kingpin

Interviewer: That’s great, release date official yet?  Nah not quite, but if the finishing touches go to plan like everything else so far; should be released by August/September fam.

Interviewer: Good news there I guess?
 I

Interviewer: Tell me about your story?
you mean my story? The song
  Interviewer: yeah that’s the one
Just shows you the highlights of my life from a boy to a man. I grew up in a rough area full every crime there is, I managed to get through these obstacles and also a life frightening incident. Now look at me now.

Interviewer: Would you like to go into detail about the life threatening incident?
Basically there was this one time when I bought a load of pre-owned items off this one man. I was looking to sell it on to make profit, but what I didn't know was that these items were previously stolen and I was eventually caught with them. So then one time when I was walking home and was being followed by a gang. As I got in I felt a sense of relief , that was until they knocked on the door and impatiently and tried to break in. My mom and step-dad were in, but my stepdad was willing to confront them all on his ones, so he opened the door, he eventually died later from one single stab wound. If he never stood in that time, it could have been me and its him I thank for the good life.

Interviewer: Did he say any last words? No. He survived the night and when we went to the hospital we left the nurses to their job, when we were waiting outside the nurse eventually invited us in but between her inviting us in and us walking, he couldn't last. Actually when I answer ‘no’ I’m kind of lying because he didn’t get to say any goodbye words. His last words were “are use two ok?” to me and mom at the house.

Interviewer: How old were you then? 13

Interviewer: How did you recover?
well, i still ain’t fully recovered, I feel like I have a blame in this. This will probz haunt me forever; inside I’ve had enough but outside I’m acting tough. I think the song I released about it though, helped let things out and now I feel better…a bit.
I don't think its fair to blame it on yourself, it was was a misunderstanding of an incident? Yeah i guess so; you know when you got that demon inside you telling you otherwise though. Anyway lets move on.

Alright then; How do you think your album will do? You know what.... man ain't even gonna answer that question right there you know

Take it you want to be the interviewer then? Haha. Who wants to be an interviewer?

Don't be going in now? aha soz i when in still my bad. Lets just say that with that the album thing, anything less than a success is a failure enit

Very high expectations then? You Dun Know

Who are your musical influences? No one in particular but that's only because Hip-Hop was live when i was growing up; so many good music with good Artists. As of lately though (sighs) the games been dead and i have returned with its charger; real Hip-Hop fans will agree.

Are you indicating that fellow artists are inferior to you? Well they will be; yeah

Fans may enjoy the modern approach hip-hop music more now though?
That's very true and some enjoy music more now, however older Hip-hop had a higher profile; plus you still hear musicians like big and Tupac on a daily basis init. So i think majority know where i'm coming from.

Fair Point? Trust me. I am a fan of Senemto though; keeping it real

Yeah  your lucky they released last year. Arrre. Hear we go

Haha. You know I'm know i'm joking, but good luck with the Album, hope it is becomes success. Thanks for your time today mate

It's been a pleasure and i have  actually enjoyed this interview you know! Thanks to the team and my fans you made Kingpin possible, which will be out very soon; I to the world.

This Interview will be recorded the school studio via voice between Me Malik Foster (Being Nasiera) and a class mate being the interviewer
